Job Summary
The Underwriting Executive is responsible for managing underwriting activities within the Takaful framework, ensuring alignment with Shariah principles, regulatory standards, and internal policies. The role involves assessing risks, evaluating applications, and supporting sound underwriting decisions that promote a balanced and profitable portfolio.
It also requires effective engagement with key stakeholders while contributing to sustainable risk-sharing and overall business growth.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate applications and assess risks in accordance with approved underwriting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with Shariah principles and regulatory guidelines in underwriting practices.
- Review and approve Takaful proposals in line with company policies.
- Prepare and issue Takaful certificates, endorsements, quotations and renewal notices.
- Collaborate with the business development department and claim units to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to underwriting
strategies to mitigate risks. - Prepare detailed underwriting reports and present them to the Head of Technical.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality in handling company-related
information, ensuring compliance with data protection laws and internal policies. - Adhere to the company’s information security guidelines, including proper storage, transmission, and disposal of sensitive materials.
- Promptly report any suspected data breaches or unauthorized access to the
appropriate company authority. - Participate in periodic data protection training to stay informed about evolving security risks and best practices.
- Execute any other duties and tasks that may be designated or assigned by the
Company. - Participate in the knowledge sharing programme of the department and the
company - To provide support to your manager as may be required towards serving the Board, Management, and staff.
Qualification
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in insurance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Certifications
- Professional certifications such as CIIN or equivalent is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 2–4 years in underwriting, with at least 1 year in Takaful or
Islamic insurance.
